*intently listens to the Coridan debate*

*He joins him, looking down on the floor, watching his father speak for Coridan's entrance into the Federation.*

I believe you suspect as I do that the Orions aren't quite finished yet.

*He doesn't immediately speak. He's watching and listening to the debate but he's also chewing on something in the back of his brain.*

They put a great deal of effort into their operation on the Enterprise.

Yes, they did. So it would be logical to assume that they wouldn't give us so easily after expending such effort. It would also be logical to assume that they'd have a Plan B, so to speak.

*He watches as several delegates break into applause as his father finishes. Several others seems to be speaking among themselves, obviously considering what was just said.*

My father can be quite persuasive.

*He rubs absently at his jaw, another sure indicator that he's struggling with something internally.*

Yes, he most certainly can be. If he can persuade the Aurelian Ambassador, we'll be close to the two-thirds vote needed for admission.

*He looks at him for a moment. There are certain tells he's learned to pick up on from him.*

Given his body language, the Aurelian Ambassador is seriously considering what he's said. And from your own, it seems that there's something that you're considering as well.

*He stops rubbing his jaw and looks over at Spock for the first time in the conversation. He hesitates for only a moment. He's never held back on his intuitions with Spock. He's not about to start now.*

I feel... like I've missed something.

And by missing something, you mean beyond just the suspicion that the Orions might attempt something further beyond what they did during the ship's journey here.

That's exactly what I mean.

*He rises from his chair slowly, still favoring his not quite fully healed wound.*

I want to reread the autopsy report Bones wrote. While I'm doing that, double check with the head of conference security. Make sure he hasn't missed any precautions.

*He nods, knowing that he won't give up until he figures out what it is that he's missing - even though he doesn't know what it might be, as illogical as that approach might be to most.*

Of course. Shall I meet you back on the ship once I've spoken to him.

*He also nods.*

I'll be on the bridge.

I shall see you there once I'm finished then.

*After inclining his head slightly, he heads off to find the head of security and spends some time going over the protocols that are in place. He can see that his questions are irritating the man a bit, but after what had happened on the ship, not to mention the captain's suspicions, he wants to be sure he's very thorough. And Vulcans are known for their rather near infinite patience.*
